Dr. Melody Denson is a board certified urologist with Urology Austin.

Dr. Melody Denson earned her medical degree at the University of Nebraska in 1996, and was a resident urologist until 2002 at the University of Iowa Hospital and clinics. She also served as a urologic surgeon at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia until 2005, and a urologic surgeon at the Trinity Clinic Urologic Institute & Continence Center in Tyler, Texas.

Melody Denson has written extensively about female incontinence, use of MRI imaging as a diagnostic tool regarding female incontinence, as well as treatment options for prostate cancer. Dr. Denson is certified by the American Board of Urology, and has affiliations with the American Urological Association, Society of Women in Urology, The South Central Section of the AUA, the Texas Medical Association and Travis County Medical Society. In 2013, she was honored with the Distinguished Surgeon of the Year award by the Austin Area Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses.

Dr. Denson has been recognized as a ‘Top Doctor’ under the category of Urology in the January 2021 and 2022 editions of Austin Monthly Magazine. She also received this designation in 2020. Dr. Denson has also been recognized as a “Top Doctor for Women” under the categories of Urogynecology/Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and Urology in the October 2020 edition of Austin Monthly Magazine.

Dr. Denson’s area of specialty includes Overactive Bladder, Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Organ Prolapse or Pelvic Floor Reconstruction, Urinary Tract Infections, female and male Hormone Replacement Therapy and InterStim Sacral Nerve Placement. Dr. Denson also performs Vasectomies.

Throughout my entire ordeal with LARGE kidney stones, Urology Austin COMPLETELY supported me. Especially Dr. Denson. She is THE BEST. She has an awesome bedside manner. She was attentive to all my urology issues and questions, and was very thorough. She put me very much at ease. She went above and beyond my expectations, performed the surgical procedure, and follow-up with me. At my first meeting with her, under dire circumstances to me, she gave me hope and assurance that my experience would turn out well. I felt confident that "it is going to be OK", that I was always in good hands. She was thorough and explained everything in understandable language. She included my family in our discussions, and also answered all of THEIR questions. She knows her stuff. That means a LOT to me. All the people at Urology Austin are professional, friendly, and supportive. Quick response to a message I left. They explained everything to me. Two locations, but your appointments are not exclusive to just one. They were flexible to my needs. Their appointment system is state-of-the-art, computerized, and easy to interact with.

I have been to all three locations and at each one found the office personnel, nurses, my doctor, Dr. Denson, and my PA, Danielle, to be exceptional. The overall climate at each location is helpful, warm and makes you feel comfortable being there. I would totally recommend if you are having any issues to locate Urology Austin and ask to see one of these two doctors.

Dr. Denson and her staff are awesome! I have been suffering from UTI's for several years and the primary care doctors kept throwing antibiotics at me which only treats the problem for a week or two before coming back. Out of desperation, I looked up reviews on a good urologist and Dr. Denson's name kept coming up as an exceptional female urologist. One of the general practitioners also recommended her. I made an appointment and I am so glad I did. She listens to you and assures you that they will find an answer to why I had so many UTI"s. She ordered a C-Scan and I scheduled it as soon as possible. On the day of the scan, Dr. Denson called me that evening and informed me that I had a large stone in my ureter. It was not going to pass and was backing up the urine into my bladder causing infection. Finally, I had an answer to the UTI problem! I am going in next week for a follow-up and am going to decide which options for surgery she recommends to get rid of the stone. All I can say is that I don't know many doctors that call you at home so that you are not left hanging until the next appointment. This doctor is a true blessing as well as the Urology Austin practice.
