Dr. Rufus Mark brings more than 20 years of experience and training in radiation oncology research and practice. He expands the Austin Center for Radiation Oncology’s scope of cutting edge procedures in radiation oncology, including the newest intensity-modulated (IMRT) and image-guided (IGRT) technologies. Dr. Mark is a graduate of Yale University and the UCLA School of Medicine. Upon completion of his training, he pursued both academic and private medical center positions within a number of Southern California’s foremost practices. For the last eight years, he has served as a radiation oncologist with the Joe Arrington Cancer Center in Lubbock, Texas, and as a clinical professor of radiation oncology at Texas Tech Medical Center. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in cutting edge procedures in radiation oncology and is an active member of numerous professional and honor societies. Dr. Mark has relocated to Austin where his family has a long-standing history in the community. Both of Dr. Mark's parents were professors at local universities. His father served as Chancellor of the University of Texas from 1982 to 1990, and is currently a professor in the UT Department of Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Mark is an avid sports fan, especially basketball & tennis. He has three children, ages 20, 18, and 16.
