Throughout the year, Urology Austin and the Austin Center for Radiation Oncology actively identifies and supports several charitable opportunities and events. 2019 Charitable Giving

C4AC Music Series – The Austin Cares Concert

Urology Austin is pleased to be a year-long sponsor of the C4AC Music Series (Concerts for Austin Charities). Proceeds from all 2019 concerts will benefit three local charities: Superhero Kids, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, and Step Onward Foundation. Their first event in 2019 was the Austin Cares Concert featuring Lukas Nelson held on February 9, 2019. The C4AC 2019 Music Series will be hosting several charitable events during the year. More information will be posted as concerts are announced.

Cheers for Children

Urology Austin will also be sponsoring Cheers for Children on March 2, 2019. This fun event is an annual fundraiser for the Dell Children’s Hospital of Central Texas.

2019 Jeans Day donations

Each month, Urology Austin and the Austin Center for Radiation Oncology support a charity with donations given by staff and providers in exchange for wearing jeans! Below is a list of the charities that we have sponsored so far  in 2019.

January 2019: Your Ride is Here – This charitable organization offers cancer patients a ride to and from their medical appointments. This group relies on the help of volunteers to assist in their mission.

February 2019: Sharing Birthday Joy – This charity is located in Round Rock, TX and provides birthday parties for homeless and foster children.

March 2019: Texas Parks and Wildlife K-9 Wardens

April 2019: Autism Society of Texas

May 2019: Meals on Wheels Central Texas

June 2019: Mobile Loaves and Fishes – This organization addresses area homelessness through three initiatives: the Food Truck Ministry, Community First! Village and the Community Works program.

July 2019: Honor Flight Austin: This non-profit flies World War II veterans to Washington DC to visit national Memorials that honor the service of all men and women who served in WWII.

August 2019: Guide Dog Foundation

September 2019: Health Alliance for Austin Musicians

October 2019: Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas


Holiday Charity Drive – 2018

communityUrology Austin was privileged to help support the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin Area by holding a charity drive from November 12 – December 7. Patients and staff generously donated a large amount of personal hygiene items, art supplies, puzzles, socks, clothing, monetary donations and other necessities. Donation boxes were available at  nine Urology Austin locations: Austin Central, South #1, South #2, Jollyville, Round Rock #1, Round Rock #2, Austin Center for Radiation Oncology, Kyle, and Westlake.  Staff at the Boys and Girls Club were very appreciative of the support! We look forward to partnering with another local organization for our 2019 holiday charity drive!

ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk – Austin 2019

 

Urology Austin will be hosting its annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Concordia University. The event will take place from 8:00 AM until 12 noon. More information will be posted closer to the event. We encourage everyone to help support this event that benefits prostate cancer research and advocacy.

ZERO 2018

Urology Austin is pleased to report that we had a great turn out for our 2108 event at Concordia University on Saturday, October 17th! Participants helped raise over $73,000 for research, advocacy and prostate cancer support! We truly appreciate everyone who participated in the 2018 event!

Since 2010, Urology Austin has sponsored what is now the annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk held each year at Camp Mabry. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, October 27th and will commence with registration at 7:30 AM. The day’s events will include a 5K run/walk, a one mile walk, the Kid’s “Superhero Dash for Dad”, and a virtual “Snooze for Dudes” program.

ZERO holds events across the country each year in order to raise funding to promote prostate cancer education for men and their families, free prostate cancer screening events, and to fund prostate cancer research and treatment development.

Urology Austin Jeans Day 2018

Each month, Urology Austin supports a charitable organization through an internal program called ‘Jeans Day’. Employees are given the opportunity to contribute a designated amount each month, that will be given to the charity being sponsored. Those who donate are recognized by wearing jeans!

Cap2K Open Water Race and Pledge Swim

For the past several years, the former Urology Team has served as a major sponsor for the Cap 2K Open Water Race and Pledge Swim held at Lady Bird Lake. This annual event is co-hosted by local residents Sandy Neilson and her husband Dr. Keith Bell. Sandy Neilson is a three time gold medalist in swimming at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

In 2018, the Cap2K event benefitted:

  • Swimability – A charitable organization that provides swimming lessons for low income children.
