Marcia O’Brien received her Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner program from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2016. She graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Texas at Austin on May 6, 2023. Her doctoral specialization focused on evidence-based, holistic management of prostatitis.

As an advanced practice provider with Urology Austin, Marcia is supervised by Brett Baker, MD, Jeffrey Kocurek, MD, and Herb Singh, MD. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. O’Brien is licensed to evaluate patients, diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, manage patient care, and perform specific in-office procedures. Dr. O’Brien loves to educate patients on kidney stones and urinary tract infection prevention, along with providing collaborative management for general urological issues, neurogenic bladder, kidney stones, and hypogonadism.

As a registered nurse, she has experience in many specialties including medical-surgical, telemetry, neurology, orthopedics, postpartum, and neonatology at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital of Southeast Texas and St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center.

In her spare time, she loves to cook and bake, travel, swim, and spend time with her family and close friends.
