At Urology Austin, we support patients facing prostate cancer by providing them with an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. Our urology practice also works hard to raise money and awareness about this type of cancer. As part of this effort, we recently hosted the ZERO Out Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in Austin.
Of the 218 participants in this event, 75 of them were from Urology Austin. This made our team the largest by far. Additionally, the event in Austin raised more than $64,500, and nearly $6,000 of the total came from our team’s efforts. We’re incredibly proud of these figures because they represent steps towards a world without prostate cancer.

It’s more common than you may think. 1 in 8 American men will receive a prostate cancer diagnosis.
Early detection saves lives. Diagnosing and treating this type of cancer early greatly increases a patient’s likelihood of living a long and healthy life.
Treatment works. With treatment, research shows that the five-year survival rate for men with this diagnosis is 98%. This is assuming the cancer has not spread to other organs.
Certain factors can increase a man’s risk. These include family history, age, exposure to chemicals, and being African American.
