January Featured Employee – Erika Saldivar, Patient Navigator at Radam Lane
Erika is the Advanced Prostate Cancer Navigator at the Radam Office. She works directly with APC Providers in assisting patients on starting new treatments for their advance disease. She also assists with overcoming barriers they might have with the financial cost for these advanced treatments.
Her favorite part of working at Urology Austin is the patients and that Urology Austin allows for and encourages continued growth through the company.

“I would like to mention, of course I can listen to the calls these ladies make. Erika is SO AMAZING and without hearing the patient on the other end, I feel she placed him at ease. No kidding, the call took like 2 hours. NOT ONCE did she sound frustrated or tired of explaining every detail to the patient. I heard a lot of professionalism going on. SO IMPRESSIVE. I love listening to hear her in particular because her words flow easily to help patients understand with all questions answered. Just felt you may want to know and possibly pass this on as a KUDOS!”

February Featured Employee – Johnathan Frost, Patient Service Representative at Round Rock #2
Johnathan worked at the Jollyville and Round Rock #1 offices and now works at Round Rock #2 office . He moved here with his fiancée from the University of Kentucky where he worked in the same position for the past few years. After some kidney and bladder health scares in his family, he decided to apply his retail management and customer service experience to the medical field. Johnathan spends his day doing as much as he can to make each patient’s time at Urology Austin as smooth as possible. He does this through prepping for each patient and informing them about what he is doing as he goes. His favorite thing about working at Urology Austin is how friendly everyone is. He is grateful that in his few short months here, he’s been able to work alongside so many great people! He feels very welcome and looks forward to continuing to do good work.

“Good day, I am a long time patient at Urology Austin under Doctor Chop’s care, and now I see Doctor Kansas. As I checked in, Johnathan greeted me and seconds later he politely informed me that I am a day early to my appointment. When I learn of that, I told Jonathan that I work in Dripping Springs and live in Leander and asked if he find a way to schedule me in today, but if that is not possible, I understand, I made the mistake. Without hesitation, he asked me to give him a few moments to sort out my request. He did this with a waiting room full of patients. Less than 2 minutes go by and bam I am sitting waiting for my lab work. Thank you to Jonathan for taking the time to truly provide Customer Care and for making this day a better one.”

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and honor what you did today. Initially, you had planned to leave at 1 PM due to a family matter, but you voluntarily stayed an extra 2.5 hours because you saw the need at the clinic. During lunch time, it was just you and I working relentlessly to finish Dr. Giesler’s BX on time for the patient’s sake and Dr. Giesler’s own appointment. Not only did we get both individuals out on time, but you also helped me clean up all the rooms, excessive amount of tools, and started rooming patients with me at 12:40 PM. You did it all without me even asking for help. I never heard you say, “It’s lunch time, I have to go.” We were both too busy to step out for food. You even went the extra mile to ask me if I was doing okay and if you could help relieve some of my load. I appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for everything and holding me up when I was slightly backed up during lunch.

Well, everyone on staff at the Radam Rd facility is terrific. The front check-in team is always friendly, fun, and efficient. The Techs are also friendly and very knowledgeable! {And, of course, Dr. Northway is terrific.) Finally, the checkout staff is always fun, accommodating, and helpful. However, I especially want to commend to you Robert Gonzalez, the Customer Service Rep. I have never experienced any patient care situation like his! He pays special attention to the well-being of the lobby patients, especially those who are awaiting their office appointment. Many of these patients are awaiting their very first meeting with a UA physician, and Mr. Gonzalez is a master at providing a calming and informative presence! He is a GREAT personal representative of UA!

I would like to recognize Ms. Heather Manning for her conscientious dedication and follow through while working on a medication denial for a patient. I could tell by reviewing the chart all the effort she had made to assist this patient. She followed all the suggestions given by the pharmaceutical rep and once she had exhausted all the tools, she called to ask for additional assistance from navigation. These PA’s and medication denials can be time consuming and frustrating and I appreciate Heather for her passion to do the right thing for our patient!
