Brian Buhrer is a Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) who received his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, and his Associates of Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force.

Prior to beginning his career in healthcare, Brian served in the United States Air Force for over 8 years as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. During this time, Brian deployed to both the Iraq and Afghanistan theatres where he was awarded a Purple Heart, three Army Commendation Medals, Air Force Commendation Medal, and an Army and Navy Achievement Medal for his actions overseas. While stateside, he was selected as the 2009 Airmen of the Year for Air Mobility Command as well as several other distinguished leadership awards.

Brian comes to Urology Austin with vast clinical experience across several specialties during his Physician Assistant training, laboratory technician experience, emergency medical technician experience and outreach. His volunteerism includes serving in a medical capacity at underserved populations in Austin as well as volunteering at the UT Veterans Association.

In his free time, Brian enjoys bike riding, working out and camping with his wife and son. They hope to visit all the state parks in Texas.

At Urology Austin, Brian will be working alongside Dr. Eric Giesler at our Jollyville and Westlake locations.
